CBL Data Recovery Technologies Co-Founder Zhengong Chang Named Most Innovative Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur
MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Mar 28, 2004) - CBL Data
Recovery Technologies Inc. (www.cbltech.com), a leading
international provider of computer data recovery services, is
pleased to announce co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Zhengong Chang has won the Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Award
for "Most Innovative last night."
The Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards are hosted by the
Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs in association with
Centennial College's Center of Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of
Economic Development and Trade, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ming
Pao Daily News. The purpose of the awards is to promote
entrepreneurship in the Chinese Canadian Community, to recognize
the contribution of Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs, to encourage
new business start-up and to promote social responsibilities in
entrepreneurs.
"Winning this award is particularly meaningful for me because it
recognizes both my achievements with CBL here in Canada as well
as my Chinese heritage," says Chang. "For someone in my line of
work and with my background, being named 'most innovative' is
very gratifying."
Chang, son of Tong Chang, one of China's computer science
pioneers, is a native of Beijing and came to Canada in 1988 after
five years at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey
acquiring his Master's Degree in Computer Science. He retains
close links with family, friends and businesses in part because
of CBL's strong presence in Beijing in the form of a data
recovery lab, which enjoys strong ties with the Chinese
government.
Chang's first technology-related job was with IBM's China
Computer Service Center in 1980 and quickly led him to realize
how important computers were becoming in the business world and
the lives of people in general.
In 1993, he met Bill Margeson, and the two decided to purchase a
small computer repair business. CBL Technologies Inc. was
established to serve then needs of the growing IT community in
Markham, Ontario.
Chang first saw the potential for a business based on data
recovery through direct experience: the drive containing CBL's
accounting data was lost and when sent to specialist company for
recovery, the cost was quoted as $2,000. Chang decided he would
try to recover the lost data himself, and shortly after CBL Data
Recovery Technologies Inc. was created with one mission: To
recover more data than any other data recovery service on the
planet.
Since its founding more than a 11 years ago, CBL has grown to
employ more than 50 qualified and highly skilled people in many
different fields holding degrees in such fields as Semiconductor
Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation
Control, Telecommunications and Psychology. In addition to its
network of labs, CBL also offers data recovery services worldwide
through 46 authorized partners, including NexInnovations and
Toshiba Canada.
