CBL Data Recovery Technologies: Anti-Virus Alert Center; Resource For Today's VBS.Newsletter Virus Bug
TORONTO, CANADA-- CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. of Toronto, a
leading provider of data recovery services, reports that a fix
will be forthcoming at its Virus Alert Centre for today's
VBS.LoveLetter virus.
Users can go to http://www.cbltech.com/v_alert/index.html to learn
about the virus and how to fix any damage that has been done to
their computer system.
"This worm is a VBS program and is spread by an email attachment,"
says CBL's president Bill Margeson. "The subject line contains
the following: "kindly check the attached LOVELETTER. The file
received is: LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs"
By opening the attachment the worm is activated by using the
Windows Scripting Host program. When the worm is activated it
copies itself into the computer's hard drive and registry.
"Any files with the extensions: JPG, *.JPEG, *.MP3, *.MP2 are
replaced with the extension.VBS. For example, PICT.JPG would be
replaced with PICT.JPG.VBS and this would contain the worm," adds
Margeson.
